World Youth Fly Fishing Championship 2013

Fly Fishing Canada is seeking applicants for membership on the Canadian youth team for the 12th FIPS-Mouche World Youth Fly Fishing Championship 2013 to be held in Ireland from 21st to 26th July, 2013. To allow for practice, the team will leave about a week before the start and return right after the championship.

 Can I Apply

To be eligible to apply for the team, you must be a Canadian citizen and be between the ages of 14 and 18, inclusive, at any time in time in 2013.

Team selection will be made by an FFC committee from across the country. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Performance and experience at recent national and international competitions.
  • Recommendations from FFC youth team coaches.
  • Has a "team first" orientation.
  • Possesses specific skills suited to the championship venues.
  • Generally makes for a good ambassador for Canada and FFC at an international event.

What it will cost

The cost of the trip will be approximately $5,000* for each angler, including.

  • Airfare and all ground transportation.
  • Registration.
  • Hotel accommodation and meals for the two weeks we will be there.

*We are looking for sponsorship to reduce the cost but at this time we have not obtained any firm commitments.
