ABOUT

OUR MISSION

Fly Fishing Canada is a not-for-profit organization aimed at promoting fly fishing and, in particular, using national and international fly fishing championships to promote issues concerning fly fishing and conservation.

What we do

Although some anglers still balk at the concept of competitive fly fishing, these strictly catch-and-release events provide a focal point that brings fly fishers together from throughout Canada and the world, not only to exchange technical information about their sport, but also to address problems concerning conservation, water quality, habitat loss, and other environmental problems.

Through these exchanges, many of the problems that plague freshwater fisheries in several countries may someday be beaten, or at least controlled in a meaningful manner.

President’s Message

Welcome to Fly Fishing Canada’s website!

Fly Fishing Canada (FFC) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the sport of fly fishing through friendship, competition and conservation.  FFC is the official sporting body that sanctions fly fishing competitions in Canada and is a member of the International Sport Fly Fishing Federation (FIPS-Mouche).

I’m proud to be part of this organization, which has been competing internationally since 1987 and aims to continue representing our country in categories for Men, Women, and Youth.   Within our website, you’ll find a competition calendar highlighting all the competitions scheduled throughout Canada for the upcoming season.  Please visit this section often as it will change throughout the year as more competitions are approved/sanctioned.  If you’re interested in becoming a FFC member, please reach out through one of these competitions or contact us directly through this website.  There is no better way to learn about the latest fly fishing techniques, conservation, patterns, and equipment than through competition.

Among FFC’s objectives, is a priority to continue promoting and expanding competitive fly fishing in categories open for Women and Youth.  2024 saw the 1st Canadian Women’s National Fly Fishing Champions and a number of fly fishing camps hosted for anglers under 18.  I’m proud to see work continue in these areas and our Executive is working hard to expand these opportunities to other regions throughout Canada.

Lastly, I’d like to thank our Executive, competition organizers, and members.  Your commitment to FFC and our sport is key to our success and I’m excited to see what the next competition season holds for Canada.  Best of luck and tight lines!
