The BCFFL and Fly Fishing Canada will be hosting the BC Provincial 2-day River Fly Fishing Competition of the 2023 season in the Fraser Valley.
Date of event: Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th, 2023
Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm (time is approximate at this stage)
Location: Yet to be finalized (Lower Mainland – Abbotsford to Chilliwack))
This event will have the following basic details:
Two day event on two separate rivers
Anglers will be divided into two groups (or more) with one half of the anglers fishing River 1 one day, and then fishing River 2 on the other day (while the other half of competitors does the opposite)
Anglers will further be divided into smaller groups to fish together on the same beats and to server as controllers for each other
Location will be finalized closer to the event date, but will be located on a river(s) in the Lower Mainland (subject to water conditions)
The targeted species shall be trout, char and whitefish (not salmon)
Entrance Fee $10 per FFC registered angler ($15 for others)
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be presented to the finalists
Anglers will be randomly drawn into groups and teams that will stay together through the day
Anglers will be responsible for their own food and driving arrangements
The event will follow and comply with Fips-Mouche rules of 2021 (i.e. no indicators, split shot, etc...)
The event will be capped at 32 competitors at this time (but may be expanded based upon water conditions)
This event will be an FFC sanctioned event
Registration for the event will be done by email to Chris Puchniak (see email below) with registration being accepted starting on July 17th at 8:00 am.
The registration fee can be paid by e-transfer or in person at the event - the fee covers the costs of the medals, and any amount left over will be donated to the Canadian Youth Fly Fishing team.
